TESAR (Training for Early-Stage Researchers on Evidence-Informed Policymaking) is a European project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Its mission is to bridge the gap between research and policymaking by empowering early-stage researchers (ESRs) with the knowledge, skills, and tools to turn evidence into impactful policy.
Over the course of 30 months (September 2025 – February 2028), TESAR brings together universities, research institutions, and training providers from across Europe. The project supports ESRs—including Master’s students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral fellows—in developing both theoretical and practical competences for Evidence-Informed Policymaking (EIPM).
By bringing together leading universities, research institutions, and training providers from across Europe, TESAR creates a unique ecosystem where knowledge, practice, and policy meet. The project supports early-stage researchers, public officials, and stakeholders to develop forward-looking, inclusive, and sustainable solutions to today’s complex societal challenges.
TESAR combines training modules, simulation-based environments, AI-enhanced tools, and large-scale dissemination actions to ensure lasting impact at national and European levels.
Contemporary leaders and decision-makers are facing an uphill battle due to the increasing global information noise and knowledge complexity challenging both our cultural and political certainties.
Today’s complex contexts are challenging not only for the ethical nature of their issues but also due to uncertainties on the validity of sources. Moreover, the “leadership work” needed to address these endevours requires decision makers and influencers to grapple with sophisticated perspectives/conflicts arising from those same responsibilities.
This problem spans across society, across various stakeholders and across multiple “systemic needs” of today’s leaders:
for youth to help them understand the world in its complexity
for citizen engagement and empowerment ensuring reliability
of "base reality" from monopolistic entities for decision makers
of "core society information" across institutions, communities and countries (ex: weather data) for improving systemic collaborations
to learn and reflect on these issues so they can act more responsibly and with better awareness & higher effectiveness in today’s complex social, political and economic environments.
